About
RAPB Services Limited was established in 2021 by Bob Pennycook, who after 40 years of engineering experience wanted to provide Welding Engineering Consultancy Services.
The services RAPB can provide include ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, PED/PE(S)R inspections, Support to organisations with ISO3834 and EN1090 requirements and general welding or mechanical engineering support.
Bob is a Certified European Welding Engineer and Chartered Engineer with over 40 years of experience in the oil and gas, nuclear and pressure system fields.
To date he has managed projects for the introduction and accreditation of an ISO 3834 certification system, developed a program for UKCA marking for a major global inspection organisation, led the inspection team during marine type approval for major UK gas turbine manufacturers and has been involved in the UK new nuclear program since 2011. Â
Bob has sat on the BSI WEE/036 Qualification of welding personnel and welding procedures and PVE/001/16 Pressure Vessels - Fabrication and Joining Techniques committees for many years.

Business System Qualification
Review and development of fabrication quality systems in line with EN 1090 and ISO 3834 at all levels.Â
RAPB Services can act as an independent Responsible Welding Co-Ordinator (RWC) for your business having been involved in the development of an accredited certification scheme.Â
Through the development of EN 1090 compliant systems, a business can meet the requirements of the Construction Products Regulations and associated requirements for CE marking of fabrications.
Welding Development & Materials Assessment
Development of welding specifications and qualifications in ferritic, austenitic and corrosion resistant alloys based on design drawings and specifications.Â
Selection of appropriate materials to meet both the environmental and regulatory requirements.
RAPB Services can develop preliminary Weld Procedure Specifications and provide recommendations on test sample selection, NDT & mechanical testing to maximise the range of qualification against multiple fabrication codes and to cover PED / PE(S)R and Nuclear Regulations.
Mechanical Engineering
Working with you to develop and witness FAT for all types of mechanical equipment such as gas and steam turbines and their associated package equipment.
RAPB Services holds many years experience in dealing with major offshore projects.
